During this quarter we had Mrs. Shields, an infection control nurse, as a guest speaker. She came to talk to us about the importance of infection control within the medical field. She discussed proper ways to clean rooms and equipment. She talked about how easy bacteria and germs can spread. The best way to destroy these bacterias is to clean with the proper materials and in the right way. Another important step to stop the spread of bacteria is to always wash your hands with soap and water. People are often in a rush in the medical field and try to take a shortcut. Mrs. Shields taught me once I get into the field to be aware of different bacterias and take time to clean equipment, areas around the office, and myself. I will be able to use the skills she taught us to make sure the office I am working in is a safer environment for everyone.
